Good Morning, Macabre (a singalong....)

Servant boys wash carriages clean
Dark London streets awake from a dream
One man walks home his bag unseen
But he’s seen me, the handsome doctor

The street sweepers discover vintage wares
They hop skip and jump up darkest stairs
Who stands at the top? nobody cares
Just me and the most handsome doctor

The dogs of doom are howling low
For oil lamp shadows there’s no place to go
And love loses its time if nobody knows
he’s back, my handsome doctor

This time with a bag, the jangle of tools
There’s chisels and saws, who playing the fool?
I can't stick around, this fella ain’t cool
So much for that most handsome doctor

Jack Jack  Jack Jack Jack
I reread the newspaper’s headlines so bold
Jack Jack  Jack Jack Jack
Stories well known, patience grows old
Jack Jack  Jack Jack Jack
In London fog, the deeds unfold
Jack Jack  Jack Jack Jack
So goes it with my handsome doctor
Jack Jack  Jack Jack Jack
The handsome doctor…….

The dogs of doom are howling low
For oil lamp shadows there’s no place to go
And loves loses its time if nobody knows
he’s back, the handsome….

Edo Graphic

Would that a garden could be marvelled at
As much as a conglomerate,

And that the placing of a dark red stone
Flattened like a 12-inch persimmon

Next to a brown one, more rectangular,
Could be regarded for all that it is

Two steps in a garden walk. With no moon
Though, the fire of the cosmos seems

To be strung through neon vacuum tubes & amped
In padded elevators, dazzling minds with images

Layered with geometry within the Vast Cityscape,
Primed of raw fish & rice wine, 30-stories up,

Arranged in lacquer and brittle porcelains
By silky, elongated fingers, as formulaically

As their aid to masturbation in a karaoke booth:
Tokyo is this, in endless luminescense...

Yet when scurrying figures pull aside such screens,
Peel away mascara eyes, stop, one moment to marvel

Not at galactic carnal obsessions, but at the moss
Beside each stone, they too touch earth

With resolute footsteps...
The Kitten's Coat

Dusk was passing, and while admiring the colors,
those variations of green in the banana leaves
through the philodendron and amidst the jasmine's
blossoms, an old man became so engrossed
that he missed the moment sharp
when Darkness arrived.

Darkness -- the kitten's coat was endless sheen,
its pitch eclipsing rainbow hues with a brilliance
everlasting -- and through her love for this old man
she'd sponged and glossed her every hair, up
from front paws to phantom tail just for
that evening's meeting, and when her friend
leaned to his cane, she stole along the garden
wall as if to know one sound might break
on either leaf or twig or snail
the strongest concentration.

And so the kitten crept and climbed, from ground
to rock to empty pot, onto a shelf of money plants
and through a maze of vines and string
until she reached like stairs past stars
the stone wall's top, her world's rough edge,
and with a leap of faith she then found shoulder
she'd been aiming for, she found the nape
and licked it dear, as old man slumped, as cane
fell clear, and through the night she held him there

That coat in all its brilliance ....
